The Ecumenical Patriarch visits the Youth Camp Centre of the Orthodox Church of Finland

The visit of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew in Finland continued on Saturday, 9 September 2023, with a visit to the Helsinki Orthodox Church Youth Camp Centre in Kaunisniemi.

A prayer for peace in Ukraine was held in the Church and everyone prayed for those who have lost their lives in the war.

Her Excellency the Ambassador of Ukraine Ms. Olga Dibrova, during her speech, thanked Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew for condemning the war and all the support he has shown to the Ukrainian people. At the same time, the ambassador thanked Archbishop Leo of Helsinki and all Finland, for the consistent and just actions of the Finnish Orthodox Church since the beginning of the war.

His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew specifically addressed the young people gathered at the Camp, saying among other things: “Of all the events of this visit, this is certainly the most beautiful. You will take the future of the Finnish Orthodox Church into your own hands. The Mother Church will support you in this work until the end.”

The children and youth received a commemorative blessing from the Ecumenical Patriarch.

His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew planted a tree in the courtyard of the Camp Centre, together with Archbishop Leo and Ambassador Olga Dibrova.
