Saint Sophia’s Greek school keeps up its long-standing educational work in the Greek Community of Great Britian. The pupils start at the Preschool/ Nursery class and continue their Greek education through Primary school. Most of them stay on to the GCSE and AS/A Level Years. During the last three years, the number of students who enrol in the Preschool class, has dramatically increased.

The subjects taught at the school are as follows: Modern Greek Language and Literature, a summary of the Greek/ Cypriot History and Geography, the ethos and main dogmas of the Orthodox Faith, Greek music and traditional Greek dances.

The staff consists of well educated and experienced educators and students in their majority obtain a good standard of the Greek Language.

The oldest students sit the GCSE and AS/A Level examinations and traditionally achieve very good results.

The school is open every Saturday, except for half terms, from 9.30 am to 1.15 pm.

The lessons take place at the Se Marylebone C of E School for Girls, 64 Marylebone High Street, London W1U 5B, which is a walking distance from Baker Street underground station and five minutes from the Hellenic Centre.

Every year the School awards three students who excel both academically and morally.

These awards are given in memory of Bishop Timotheos who had been the Principal of the school for many years.

Since 2001-2002 the School publishes its own magazine which includes articles written by the students, always under the guidance and care of their teachers and is related to aspects of the Greek way of living and cultural heritage.

The Saint Sophia’s School opens its gates in the first fortnight of September and closes in the first fortnight of July.
