On the 4th Sunday of Lent, 14 April 2024, the Feast Day Divine Liturgy on the occasion of the commemoration of the memory of Saint Theonas, Archbishop of Thessaloniki, and Second Founder of the Holy Patriarchal and Stavropegic Monastery of Saint Anastasia the Pharmakolytria, was presided over by His Eminence Metropolitan Filotheos of Thessaloniki, who was joined in prayer by the Abbot of the Holy Monastery, His Eminence Metropolitan Apostolos of Miletus, and by many priests and faithful pilgrims.

The Abbot of the Holy Monastery, His Eminence Metropolitan Apostolos of Miletus, prior to the dismissal of the Divine Liturgy, thanked His Eminence Metropolitan Filotheos of Thessaloniki for the acceptance of the invitation to for his serving of the Feast Day Hierarchical Divine Liturgy. Metropolis Apostolos mentioned, among others, that Saint Theonas is the spiritual link between Thessaloniki and the Holy Monastery, since after the complete renovation of the Monastery and due to his many spiritual gifts, he took over the spiritual guidance of the flock of the Thessalonian Church.

His Eminence Metropolitan Filotheos of Thessaloniki warmly thanked the Metropolitan of Miletus for the special blessing he received to liturgise on the occasion of the memory of his predecessor, Saint Theonas, Archbishop of Thessaloniki, as he also emphasised the special historical and spiritual importance of the presence of the Patriarchal and Stavropegic Monastery of Saint Anastasia the Pharmakolytria in the area of Thessaloniki, which played an important role during the period of the Greek Revolution, with the help it provided to the fighters and also with its contribution to Greek Education, as it operated an Ecclesiastical School there from 1918 to 1971.

Metropolitan Filotheos did not forget to turn his gaze and his heart and his address to the Great Church, our Ecumenical Patriarchate, and to speak to the congregation about the person of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew. Afterwards, the Metropolitan of Thessaloniki preached and analysed the gospel passage of the day to the congregation.

On the eve of the feast, Saturday 13 April 2024, the Great Feast Day Vespers were held for the memory of Saint Theonas, Archbishop of Thessaloniki, and were officiated by His Eminence Metropolitan Apostolos of Miletus, Abbot of the Holy Monastery. The Holy Sermon was preached by Theologian-Author, Director of the Library of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece, Mr. Emmanuel Melinos.
