The Holy Synod of Antioch will hold a regular session from October 3 to 10, 2019, in Balamand, under the presidency of His Beatitude John X. The Synod brings together all the Metropolitans and Bishops of the Antiochian See from the homeland (Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, the Arab and Gulf countries) and abroad (North America, Canada, Latin America, Europe and Australia). The Synod’s agenda discusses internal and external ecclesiastical issues, such as relations between churches, the state of the archdioceses, especially in the present circumstances, and various public issues. The Fathers will also ponder upon the crises and challenges that is facing the family today, and how to address them.
His Beatitude John X, together with the Antiochian hierarchs, will preside over the Divine Liturgy, on Sunday, October 6, at 10 a.m. in the Patriarchal Monastery of Our Lady of Balamand. On the occasion of the Holy Synod, an “Antiochian Choir,” that gathers fifty chanters from all the Antiochian Archdioceses in Syria and Lebanon, will hold a Byzantine Music Concert on marriage and the family drawing from the Holy Scriptures, the Holy Fathers, and the Liturgical Hymns. The Concert entitled “Crown Them in Glory and Honor” will take place on Sunday evening, October 6, at 7 p.m., in the Zakhem Auditorium at the University of Balamand.
