The New Martyr Christos from Preveza, the young seafarer who, when his ship docked in Kos, defiantly confessed the name of Christ, refusing to convert, bravely testified on 5 August 1668 on the island of Kos, was honoured by his birthplace and the local Church in the Church dedicated to his memory in the city of Preveza.

On the afternoon of 4 August 2023, a Festive Vespers was held, and was officiated by His Eminence Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Nicopolis and Preveza. At the Great Vespers, Archimandrite Father Ioannikios Bilias offered the festive sermon and focused on the life of Saint Christos the New Martyr and the general contribution of the Neomartyrs to the Church and Nation.

On the main day of the feast, The Matins and Divine Liturgy were presided over by His Eminence Metropolitan Chrysostomos, who in his homily referred to the honour that the Church gives to martyrdom and explained the reasons for this honour, connecting martyrdom with the Cross of the Lord Jesus Christ and the mysteries of love and faith.
