The relics of St. Euthymius, Patriarch of Tarnovo, are going to be received in Sofia for the enthronement of the Bulgarian Patriarch

In accordance with a decision of the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church – Bulgarian Patriarchate, the relics of the Holy Patriarch Euthymius of Tarnovo are going to be received in Sofia. The shrine is to be brought by His Grace Bishop Sioniy of Velitsa, the abbot of Troyan and Bachkovo Monasteries, to the Patriarchal Cathedral “St. Alexander Nevsky”. The relics are to be received on Saturday, June 29th, at 11 a.m.

The shrine is to be placed next to the wonderworking icon of the Mother of God – “Axion Estin” (“It is Truly Meet”), as in this way the newly elected Bulgarian Patriarch would be able to venerate his ancestor and to pray to him for intercession and support.

The worship of the holy relics of St. Patriarch Euthymius is to be conducted on July, 1st (Monday) in the Patriarchal Cathedral.
