Thessaloniki event dedicated to Elder Joseph the Hesychast
An event dedicated to the Athonite saint Joseph the Hesychast was held on Monday evening in the northern city of Thessaloniki, on the occasion of the commemorative edition “The Letters and Poems of Elder Joseph the Hesychast – 60 years since his repose”.
The edition is published by the Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopedi, on Mt. Athos.
The event, held at the Vellidio convention hall, was opened by the Byzantine music choir “Philathonitae”.
A presentation of the edition was made by the Elder Archimandrite Elisaios, the Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Simonos Petras.
In turn, the Elder Archimandrite Ephraim, the Abbot of the Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopedi, addressed the packed auditorium.
The event was coordinated by Nikolaos Koios, the content editor of the online ecclesiastical magazine Pemptousia, and the director of studies at the University Ecclesiastical Academy of Thessaloniki.
The Greek state was represented by the Deputy Minister for Macedonia-Thrace, Theodoros Karaoglou.
During the event, a documentary on the life of the Elder Joseph was shown, with Emmy award-winning actor and author Jonathan Jackson in the title role.
