Turkey’s armed forces on Sunday began annual exercises on the territory of Cyprus illegally occupied by Turkey, as tensions continue to simmer with Greece and other regional countries in the eastern Mediterranean.
Islamist Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday, meanwhile, again tried to rally his supporters and deflect from Turkey’s collapsing economy by using war-mongering and nationalist rhetoric and threats, warning Greece: “…They will either understand the language of politics and diplomacy, or on the field through bitter experiences.”
The latest provocations were again accompanied by a sleek PR video, accompanied by martial music, ostensibly showing Turkish military units in action.
