Unknown perpetrators vandalized a parish of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Zaporozhye with fascist symbols, the press service of the local department of the Ukrainian National Police.
This is the second such incidence in the Zaporozhye Diocese in a week.
According to the statement, the police received a message from the rector of the parish yesterday morning. “The man said that unknown people inscribed Nazi symbols on the façade of the church building overnight,” the message reads.
Interfax-Religion reports that it was the Church of St. Olga that was vandalized, served by the head of the diocesan chancellery Archpriest Gennady Elin. “They attempted arson and painted Nazi symbols,” Fr. Gennady commented.
Police arrived on the scene and found the remains of the inscriptions. The church guard said he had seen the inscriptions in the morning and cleaned them off. He hadn’t seen or heard anything suspicious during the night. The police are checking and looking for people who may have been involved in the crime.
In the night of January 6, the Church of St. Alexei of Carpathia was also set on fire and painted with Nazi symbols. A criminal case was opened under “hooliganism.”
Many Ukrainian schismatic-nationalists, including clergy of the schismatic “Kiev Patriarchate,” are influenced by Nazism. On October 12, Philaret Denisenko, the schismatic “Patriarch,” consecrated a new church in Ternopil filled with Nazi symbolism.
OrthoChristian previously reported on “Hieromonk” Bogdan Kostyuk, who was received into the Patriarchate of Constantinople on October 11 with the rest of the “Kiev Patriarchate” and who openly supports fascism, sharing Hitler speeches on his social media accounts and reports on the activities of the Right Sector terrorist organization.
