The first English-language undergraduate course to be offered by a Greek state university was presented by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (EKPA) on Wednesday.
Aimed exclusively at non-EU students, the four-year BA program includes courses in Greek archaeology, ancient Greek history, literature and modern Greek and is offered in collaboration with the International Hellenic University in Thessaloniki.
The multi-disciplinary course offers a unique opportunity to study the culture of ancient Greece while acquiring first-hand knowledge of some of Greece’s most important archaeological monuments and sites, such as the Acropolis and the Parthenon, Delphi, Olympia and more.
“I am very proud of EKPA’s initiative, which proves that Greek universities can ‘spread their wings’ abroad,” said Education Minister Niki Kerameus at the course’s presentation event, and mused on the benefits of doing the course in Greece by saying “If not here, then where? If not us, then who?”
The course comprises eight semesters spread over four years, with course fees amount to 6,000 euros per academic year, while a maximum of 100 students are accepted per academic year.
The course will launch on September 2020 and registrations open in January 2020.
