Speaker of Ukraine’s Verkhovnaya Rada Andrey Parubiy has renewed his invitation to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to come to Kiev and speak before the parliament.
“I want to confirm that I have invited His Holiness Patriarch Bartholomew to come to Ukraine and speak before the Verkhovnaya Rada of Ukraine,” Parubiy wrote on Twitter on Monday, December 17, 2018.
At a conciliatory council of parliamentary faction and group leaders earlier on Monday, Parubiy said he will be part of the delegation traveling to Istanbul to receive the tomos of the autocephalous Ukrainian church from the Ecumenical patriarch.
Bartholomew will deliver the tomos to the leader of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Metropolitan Epiphany, on January 6.
