Unique hagiography at Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Munich

The Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the All Saints, in Munich, Germany, was decorated with a subject of hagiography that reportedly has not before been depicted in an Orthodox church, namely, a meeting between the Resurrected Christ with His Disciples, on the first evening of the Resurrection, and their receiving of the Holy Spirit — with the verses “Peace be unto you” and “Receive Ye the Holy Ghost”.
The hagiography came through an initiative and with a donation by the former Catholic archbishop of Munich and Freising, Friedrich Wetter, who is well-known for this love of Orthodox theology and spiritual life. Hagiographer Andromache Voutsina completed the intricate frescoe in six months time.

A feature on this rare hagiography is posted today on the pages of the e-magazine Pemptousia.
