US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo continued his two-day visit to Greece on Tuesday, touring the Souda Air Base and anchorage in western Crete, accompanied by Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
The Greek premier and Pompeo were given a guided tour of the military facilities given by the respective commanders of the Greek and US bases at Souda Bay.
The official delegations also met at an adjacent air base command, with a working lunch following.
Greece’s foreign affairs and defense ministers also participated in the meetings, along with the country’s armed forces general staff chief.
America’s top diplomat, who is accompanied by his spouse, subsequently toured the Aptera archaeological site with Mitsotakis, with Greek Culture Minister Lina Mendoni acting as their guide.
