Ferry boats and other vessels sailing just off the eastern Aegean island of Chios sounded their horns in celebration on Sunday afternoon, on the occasion of the feast day of St. Paraskeve. The vessels passed by the seaside church dedicated to the saint, continuing a tradition of past years. The church was built in the Kastellou district by ethnic Greek refugees fleeing Asia Minor in 1922, and directly across from the eponymous St. Paraskeve church in Cesme, beyond the narrow strait which separates Chios from the Anatolian mainland.
