The Metropolitan of Patras, His Eminence Chrysostomos, has conveyed a letter of concern to relevant transport and infrastructure minister Constantinos Karamanlis, regarding what the Church hierarch calls the “…tragic condition that exists on the deadly Patras to Pyrgos provincial highway.”

His Eminence’s intervention comes in the wake of yet another fatal traffic accident on the specific roadway, which connects the major western port city Patras – in the northeastern Peloponnese of southern Greece – with the nearby provincial city of Pyrgos.

Chrysostomos referred to the tragic death of two educators in the latest accident, calling on the minister to step up efforts to finally commence construction of a long-delayed closed and modern highway on the same route.
