Wildfire under control on Mt. Athos

A wildfire that erupted on Friday in a forest area at the Cape Arapis site on Mount Athos was under control on Sunday, with up to 40 firefighters patrolling the area.
According to reports, the wildfire erupted after lightning struck the ground at the remote and mountainous site. However, the flames were at a significant distance from the nearest monastery or sketes on the semi-autonomous Orthodox monastic community in northern Greece.
